History

StOC was established in 1991 and evolved from a community project at Finch Foundry, Sticklepath. This major project consisted of rebuilding a double dry stone wall taking a footpath through the back of the foundry to Billy Green in Sticklepath. Tuition was arranged and volunteers from the local residents, Okehampton College, Kelly College and the Leaze Centre for students with learning difficulties all helped to complete the project.

As a follow up to this venture and because of the enthusiasm and satisfaction it gave to all concerned the StOC group was formed.

The group is based at Finch Foundry, a National Trust Property in Sticklepath, and is affiliated to the Trust for Conservation Volunteers (TCV).
